Never Miss a Renewal: Subscriptions, Domains, Insurance and Memberships

Renewals fall into two painful camps: the ones that charge you when you did not want them to, and the ones that lapse when you needed them. Both come down to the date.

Two kinds of renewal risk

Unwanted renewal: a subscription or membership bills you again for something you no longer use. Missed renewal: a domain, hosting plan or insurance policy expires and something breaks. Different outcome, same fix: see it coming early.

Choose lead times by type

  • Subscriptions and memberships: 3 days before, enough time to decide and cancel.
  • Domains and hosting: 30 days and 7 days before, so you can renew without risking downtime.
  • Insurance: 30 days before, to compare quotes instead of auto-renewing at a higher price.
  • Service and repair dates: 7 days and 1 day before.

Make a renewal list that works

For each renewal record: what it is, the renewal date, the amount, where it is managed, and whether it auto-renews. Review the whole list once a quarter and cancel anything you did not use.

Why one app for all deadlines

Splitting returns, trials and renewals across separate apps means more places to forget. One list, sorted by what needs attention first, is easier to trust. See how this compares in our tools comparison and our free trial reminder guide.

Renewals in DueAction

DueAction has categories for Subscription, Domain / Hosting, Insurance and Membership, each with sensible checklists. Set your own lead times, see everything in a calendar view, and export the list to CSV for your records.

Copy-and-use checklist

  • List every subscription, domain, policy and membership with renewal dates
  • Set lead times by type (3 days, 7 days, 30 days)
  • Mark which ones auto-renew
  • Review the list once a quarter
  • Cancel anything you did not use

Frequently asked questions

How early should I be reminded about a domain renewal?

A month ahead and again a week ahead is a safe pattern, so there is no risk of downtime.

How do I stop auto-renewals I do not want?

Note the renewal date, set a reminder a few days before, and cancel in the service or app-store subscription settings.

Is there a way to see all my renewals at once?

Yes. Keep them in one tracker and use a calendar or sorted list to see what is due next.
